THE STORY

Everyone loves a chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, but we can’t just make a regular ol’ chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. It’s too basic. And also…how you ever had a chocolate chip cookie made from sourdough discard? Please tell us you have!! Either way, a sourdough cookie is pretty much the best thing you will ever have. Not kidding. AND Black Hat Breads makes some of the best sourdough around. Here's why: Terry specializes in breads that are made the way our forebears baked, using a variety of organic wheats and slow natural fermentation. This form of baking allows for a flavor that is rich and complex, as well as healthy and digestible by the body. By using stone-ground whole wheat, rye, and spelt, Terry introduces a greater variety of complex carbohydrates, minerals, and bran, leading to a more nutritious and distinct, earthy flavor profile to his loaves. We are so proud to represent his product in our ice cream.

WHAT'S IT TASTE LIKE?

We take toasted sourdough loaves from our friend Terry over at Black Hat Breads, and we steep them in the base of our ice cream until it gets nice and sour. We strain out the bread, and we add these little nuggets of sourdough cookie dough along with a swirl of chocolate ganache for a perfect combination. Yum. Just, yum! We literally cannot keep up with the demand for this flavor. It flies off our shelf.
