SUPERBLOOM

fox point farms carrot cream + saffron threads + local honey + poppy seeds

[gf]

THE STORY

This flavor was the first one we came up with for our Superboom series. We are always inspired by the thousands of bright orange poppies that pop from the earth right after our winter rains, and thought we could use them as inspiration for a flavor! What better way to get an orange colored ice cream than by using carrots?!?! We garnered our carrots this season from Farmer Greg from Fox Point Farms. Fox Point is a spot in Leucadia working towards growing food regeneratively. Farmer Greg and his team pulled these carrots straight from the dirt and we threw them right into our ice cream. If you love the carrots in this ice cream, you can visit the property and grab some from the market for yourself. Be sure to check out the farm, the animals helping to fertilize the fields and all the kind farmers working together to steward the land. Be sure to say. ‘Hey’ to the bees for us!

WHAT'S IT TASTE LIKE?

This flavor is the definition of earthy. We caramelize the carrots in a bit of olive oil and then steam them to achieve a soft texture for a puree. We add the carrot puree straight into the ice cream for the full flavor and then steep a bit of saffron in the base of the ice cream. We swirl in local honey just as the ice cream comes out of the machine, and then toss in a few scoops of poppy seeds for texture.
